frequently asked questions ?
When shouold I start booking my hair and makeup team?
As soon as possible. Most wedding dates book up about 12 months in advance. But every year there are those certain dates that are for whatever reason very popular/common. Those dates book up about 18 months in advance. The sooner you start looking, the more options you’ll have.
How soon should I book my consultation/trial run?
We suggest anywhere between 1-4 months before your wedding. We understand that many of our brides have to travel in for their trial, so we try to be as accommodating as possible. Unfortunately we are unable to do trials on Saturday’s.
How long should I plan for my trial? What should I bring?
Trials last about 2 hours, and are done in studio. You are welcome to bring any bridesmaids/mothers that you would like to share in your experience. Please come with clean dry hair and a clean moisturized face. Bring any images of inspiration or looks that you love. Bring with you any of your hair accessories/veil, and if you have a certain lipstick/lipcolor you are set on, bring that as well.
What is the difference between airbrush and traditional makeup?
Traditional makeup is liquid or powder and is applied with brushes. It is the easiest way to control the amount of coverage desired for each skin type.
Airbrush makeup is applied using a ‘gun’ and is sprayed onto the face. It gives a full covered flawless application that is also waterproof/sweat proof. It is a great application to cover redness, and for high heat days. Airbrush is not recommended for aging skin or a ‘natural’ makeup look.
How long does hair and makeup take on the wedding day?
On average, each bridesmaid/mother takes 40 min/service for hair and makeup. The bride usually takes about 90 minutes for hair and makeup.
Do you offer touch-ups?
The option of touchups is always available at the time of booking. It is a separate item that is added to the contract and is billed hourly starting after the bride’s services are completed. And can be great for weather issues or a change in looks.
Is there a hair and makeup minimum in order to book my date?
For Saturday weddings during peak wedding season (June-Sept) we require a Bride +3 minimum.
Do I really need a professional? Can I afford one?
No doubt about it, weddings are expensive. You’ve probably already made a significant investment in your photography. But I can guarantee you that one way you won’t hate your wedding photos is by LOVING the way that you look in them. Hiring a seasoned hair and makeup company is well worth the investment. Also, professional hair and makeup plays a huge role in your relaxation and enjoying the time of your life on your wedding day.
What do I need to book you?
In order to reserve your date, we require a completed client info sheet, a signed contract, and a 50% deposit. We often do more than one wedding a day, and your date/timing is only reserved with all those 3 components.
Do you only do weddings?
Absolutely NOT!!! Lori and her team are available for commercial photo/video shoots, editorial work, films, headshots, family photos, maternity and boudoir photos, and makeup lessons as well. Please contact us for day rate information.
